To design a transportation hub in Hyde Park, Chicago that fuses both metro and bicycle modes of transportation thinking about circulation and movement.
The idea behind my hub is to layer, to create experiences of different views, different ways to communicate, and ways to wait through height. It represents Hyde Park as this place of different heights for pedestrians like the different layers in its transportation. Layering is emphasized in the materials, facades, structures, and height of the spaces. Within these layers, I focused on circulation, time, and massing. As you walk up, the material gets lighter, a transfer from steel to concrete relating to how effective mass transportation is environmentally.
